Connect your AI apps (MCP)

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, and other MCP-compatible AI apps to your SearchChamp data — ask about your rankings, opportunities, and audits, and let them draft work you approve.

The SearchChamp MCP connector lets AI apps like Claude and ChatGPT work directly with your SearchChamp data. Add SearchChamp as a custom connector, sign in once, and ask about your rankings, opportunities, and audits — inside any conversation. It uses the open Model Context Protocol (MCP), so any MCP-compatible app can connect.

Everything the connector does is scoped to what you can already see in SearchChamp, and anything that spends credits or publishes live still needs your explicit approval.

What you'll need

A workspace with MCP connector access enabled (the connector is in private beta — see Get access below).
An MCP-compatible AI app — e.g. Claude (web or desktop) or ChatGPT.
Your SearchChamp account to sign in with.

What the connector can do

Once connected, your AI app can do three kinds of things — each mapped to a permission scope you can see under Settings → Connect your AI apps.

Ask (no credits)

Ask SearchChamp anything about a site in plain language and get a grounded answer, drawn from your real data. Asking a question never spends credits.

"What's up with my site today?" "Why did my pricing page drop in search?" "Which opportunities should I work on next?"

Read your SEO data — scope: Read

The connector can pull the same insights you see across SearchChamp:

Daily brief and a site snapshot (health, AI visibility, audit status at a glance)
Rank movers — which keywords rose or fell, and by how much
AI visibility — how your site shows up across AI engines
Opportunities and tracked keywords
Site audit summary and backlinks summary
Bot access report — whether AI crawlers can reach your content
Page recommendations, your brand voice, and draft articles

Take actions — scopes: Approve and Act

Your AI app can propose work and, with your approval, run it:

Propose actions — when you ask for something that would spend credits (like drafting an article), SearchChamp writes a proposed action to your site's inbox instead of running it.
Approve or decline those proposed actions.
Publish draft content to your connected site.

You stay in control

Live changes — anything that spends credits or publishes — always require your explicit approval. The AI can propose, but it can't quietly spend or publish on your behalf. Approving a run so it executes immediately is done from the SearchChamp app.

How to connect

Get your connector URL

In SearchChamp, open Settings → Connect your AI apps. Each workspace has its own connector URL — copy it. (If you don't see a URL yet, your workspace isn't in the beta — see Get access.)

Add SearchChamp as a custom connector

In your AI app, add a custom MCP connector and paste the connector URL:

Claude — open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, and paste the URL.
ChatGPT — add SearchChamp as a custom connector and paste the URL.

Your app opens SearchChamp's sign-in screen. Sign in with your existing SearchChamp account, choose the organization you want the app to see, and approve access. The app confirms the connector is active once sign-in completes.

The connector only ever sees what your account can already see — the same workspaces, sites, and data.

Ask your first question

Start a new conversation and try:

"What's up with my site today?"

Your app calls SearchChamp and returns a summary of your latest rankings, opportunities, and audit status.

An example, end to end

Here's how a normal conversation flows once you're connected:

You ask: "What's up with my site today?" The app calls SearchChamp's daily brief and replies with your latest movements and priorities.
You dig in: "Why did my pricing page drop?" SearchChamp surfaces the real rank movement — for example, "'searchchamp pricing' fell from position 3 to 11" — so the answer is grounded in your tracked data, not a guess.
You act: "Draft an article targeting that keyword." Because drafting spends credits, SearchChamp doesn't run it silently — it writes a proposed action to your inbox. You review it and approve it (from your AI app or the SearchChamp app) to kick off the draft.
You publish: once the draft is ready, ask the app to publish it to your connected site — again, only after you approve.

Diagnose changes fast — ask why a page moved and get the ranking history behind it.
Turn insights into work — go from "here's an opportunity" to a proposed draft in one conversation, then approve it.
Publish from where you work — approve and publish content without switching tools. Developers can even drive this from Claude Code (see the setup guides).

Security & privacy

How access is protected

Sign-in, not API keys. You connect by signing in with your SearchChamp account (OAuth) — there's no key to copy or leak.
Scoped to you. The connector only sees what your account already has access to.
Approval-gated actions. Spending credits and publishing always require your explicit approval.
Revoke anytime. Manage or revoke a connected app under Settings → Connect your AI apps → Active connections.

The SearchChamp MCP connector is in private beta. If you don't see a connector URL under Settings → Connect your AI apps, request access from that page and we'll reach out once your workspace is enabled.
