AI shopping visibility
Track shopping-intent prompts, share of shelf, and product-accuracy issues for AI engines that expose structured shopping results.
AI shopping visibility extends AI Visibility with a Shopping tab for Shopify-connected stores. It proposes shopping-intent prompts from your product catalog, tracks how your products show up in AI engines' shopping surfaces, and flags when an engine misstates your price, availability, or title.
What you'll need
- Your site connected to Shopify — the same connection AI Visibility and the Site Auditor already use for store data. Non-Shopify sites don't see the Shopping tab.
- A workspace on Business plan or above.
Propose and approve prompts
Nothing is tracked automatically. SearchChamp reads your catalog (product types, categories, price bands, brand) and proposes a batch of candidate prompts you review and approve, covering three patterns:
- Price-bounded — "best X under $Y"
- Use-case — "X for Y"
- Brand comparison — "your brand vs. a named competitor"
Every proposal is traceable to something actually in your catalog — you won't see a prompt about a product type you don't sell. Dismissed proposals don't come back on the next regeneration.
Approving a prompt draws first from your normal prompt allowance, then from a smaller shopping sub-cap that varies by plan. If either would be exceeded, the approval is rejected outright and the message names which limit you hit — no batch is silently dropped.
Reading the Shopping tab
- Product visibility — a table of product × AI engine × position, built from what engines actually returned for your approved prompts.
- Share of shelf — your captured product entries as a share of every entry captured for that prompt/engine/date scope, shown alongside its denominator so the percentage isn't a mystery.
- Near-miss products — products in a tracked category that peers are showing up for, but yours isn't.
- Accuracy issues — see below.
Engine coverage is honest, not even
AI engines are inconsistent about whether they return a structured shopping result at all — that's outside SearchChamp's control, and coverage is not promised to be equal across engines:
- Google's AI surfaces parse real shopping-carousel data today.
- ChatGPT and Perplexity do not expose a structured shopping surface in the API responses SearchChamp receives — their shopping results are a feature of the consumer app, not of the data available to track them. For these engines every prompt shows an honest "this engine doesn't expose shopping results" state rather than a fabricated zero.
For every prompt and engine, SearchChamp shows one of three states, kept deliberately distinct:
- No shopping surface exposed — the engine answered, but returned nothing shaped like a shopping result for this prompt. Not a bug, not a sign anything is broken.
- Shopping surface exposed, your products absent — the engine returned a structured shopping result and none of the products in it matched yours. This is the case worth acting on: there was a shelf to be on, and you weren't on it.
- Parse failed — the engine's payload changed shape in a way SearchChamp couldn't read. Shown as its own state, never silently turned into a zero.
You will never see a 0 standing in for "we don't know" — every empty
state names its cause. Coverage can also change without notice on a
provider's side; SearchChamp reports what it actually parsed, not a
guarantee about what any engine will expose going forward.
Price-accuracy issues
When a captured shopping result names one of your own products, SearchChamp compares the price, availability, and title the engine displayed against your live Shopify catalog:
- A price mismatch beyond a small tolerance raises a critical issue, quoting both the engine's displayed price and your catalog price side by side.
- An availability contradiction (engine says in stock, catalog says sold out) raises a warning.
- A title drift (the engine's product name has drifted from your current catalog title) raises an info-level note.
These land in the same integrity issues list you already use for brand-fact accuracy — same severities, same dismissal behavior.
A few things are true by design:
- If SearchChamp doesn't know your catalog price for a product, or the currencies don't match, no price issue is raised — an unknown or mismatched-currency comparison is never treated as a mismatch.
- If an engine names a product ambiguously (for example, two similarly named variants), SearchChamp is conservative and won't raise a price issue on an uncertain match.
- Accuracy issues are only ever raised for your own products, never for a competitor's listing in the same shopping result.
- Disconnecting Shopify doesn't delete existing prompts or historical data — the accuracy check simply stops raising new issues rather than raising false ones without a catalog to check against.
Weekly summary
Commerce sites with captured shopping data in the reporting window get one extra line in the weekly AI Visibility email, reporting share of shelf and any critical accuracy issues from that week. If there's no captured shopping data yet, that line is omitted rather than reporting a misleading zero.
Plan availability
AI shopping visibility requires a Business plan or above and a connected Shopify store. It isn't available on a trial or on Starter/Pro plans.
FAQs
Why does every ChatGPT and Perplexity row say "this engine doesn't expose shopping results"? Because it's true today — neither engine's API response carries a structured shopping surface, so there's nothing to parse. That's different from "your products aren't showing up," which is a separate, real state you'll see when Google's shopping surface returns results without you in them.
Will a price-mismatch issue ever be wrong because of currency? No — if the currencies don't match, or the catalog price is unknown, SearchChamp doesn't raise a price issue rather than compare mismatched units.
Does this cost extra credits? Approving prompts draws from your existing prompt allowance and the shopping sub-cap; tracking and accuracy checks don't consume anything beyond that.
